Telliformer and Ndeipi Launch Joint Venture to Modernize Zambia’s Power Grid with Blockchain & Smart Monitoring

Lusaka, Zambia – In a landmark collaboration, Telliformer and Ndeipi Inc. have announced a Joint Venture aimed at transforming Zambia’s national power grid into one of the most advanced and transparent energy systems in Africa.

The initiative will deploy Telliformer’s Unattended Transformer Monitoring Devices (UTMDs) across substations and transformers nationwide, allowing for real-time monitoring of energy usage and reducing diesel theft and maintenance costs. Every kilowatt of power generated will be tokenized on the blockchain, creating unprecedented transparency, reducing fraud, and opening new channels for investment.

“We believe this is a game-changer for Zambia’s energy sector,” said Dr. Tyrone Moodley, CEO of Ndeipi. “With our strong relationships in the Zambian market, combined with Telliformer’s proven technology and Ndeipi’s blockchain expertise, we are ready to help ZESCO and the Government of Zambia modernize the grid and unlock new value for the economy.”

Telliformer’s UTMD technology has already proven effective in reducing transformer theft and lowering operational costs. Now, by integrating Ndeipi’s blockchain tokenization platform, the JV will allow every unit of energy to be accounted for, creating EnergyTokens and carbon credits that can be traded on global markets. This will not only increase efficiency but also attract sustainable financing from ESG investors, sovereign wealth funds, and climate-focused institutions.

“Every kilowatt will count. By monitoring and tokenizing energy at the source, we are not only improving reliability and reducing fraud, but also transforming Zambia’s power grid into an asset that can attract global capital,” said Dr. Tyrone Moodley, CEO of Ndeipi.

“Our devices have a track record of lowering losses and improving performance. This partnership gives us the opportunity to scale across Zambia and beyond, creating a model for other African nations,” added Kenneth Matthews CEO of Telliformer.

The project will begin with a pilot deployment of UTMD devices across selected substations, demonstrating measurable reductions in theft, maintenance costs, and outages. Following the pilot, the JV plans to expand nationwide, aligning with Zambia’s 2030 energy modernization and green economy goals.

With this partnership, Zambia takes a bold step towards becoming a leader in digital energy infrastructure, setting the stage for broader regional adoption in Southern Africa and beyond.
